DESIGN PROPOSAL
Prepared For: 73 Sandy Pines
CONCEPT: Entertainment Levels
CRE Group has been asked to design an outdoor space that connects all the backyard areas into a unified entertainment destination. Currently, a series of elongated steps lead guests from the driveway, navigating the terrain to a large, beautiful patio. This walk is flanked by small plantings that provide camouflage for the utilities along the house. At one end of the patio, there is access to the basement through a sliding door. On the opposite side, the patio features a fire pit, table seating, and a utility shed that often serves as a movie theater for family movie nights.
We propose adding a 12'x12' pavilion at this level, complete with a bar and outdoor kitchen. The pavilion will be set into the hill next to the fire pit, creating a distinct seating and dining area in the backyard. Beside the pavilion and behind the fire feature, there will be a focal-point planting bed with a slow-growing ornamental tree.
Closer to the house, a gap in the knee-height retaining wall surrounding the patio provides access to the second-level patio via a broad set of stairs. This second-level patio will feature a large fiberglass pool and a sun deck for sun seekers. Beyond the deep end of the pool will be a retaining wall that holds back the earth along the hillside. At the entrance of the pool, a wall will enclose the underside of the third-level deck. Beneath this deck will be unfinished storage for items during the off-season months.
Ascending the stairs, the now-expanded composite deck will provide ample seating and a high vantage point to observe others using the pool and patio spaces.
